Life, this week, has been chaotic.  Not my life so much as my life as “Mother” and “Wife”.

Early in the week, I learned, or should I say ‘re-learned’ the lesson about Simplicity … too much going on in my life means too much going on in my head which means too much going on in my life … and how if I streamline my life, my life flows with much greater ease, and so does my head.

Today’s message from Simple Abundance is about “Order”, and “Creating Contentment” (January 16, if you happen to be following in the book).   Sarah Ban Breathnach shares how distress about outside circumstances can be relieved when she indulges or participates in a “homegrown ritual”; her equilibrium is restored.

I was thinking about that and how it applies to My life and I realised that ‘Order’ and ‘decluttering’ have been key themes this week.  I function so much more effectively when my space is clutter-free.  I like clean and clear energy around me.  I gave our bedroom a really thorough clean – finally – and now it’s just a delightful space to enter and relax in.  When I set up the room for a reading, I dust, vacuum (floor & air), wipe over the table with a peppermint-oiled sponge, set out crystals, flowers and candles … the room is a tranquil oasis.

And, I realised that each time I have been to the clothesline over recent days, that sense of order and contentment have been  with me … I LOVE talking to the faeries in the Star Jasmine; talking to the Banksia Rose and Star Jasmine about how many of the actual lines on the clothes line they need to take over (it’s up to 4 at the moment); looking up at the birds in Old Man Gum Tree; partaking of the vista of brilliant cornflowers (the only blooms left after all the hot weather we’ve been experiencing); and I notice that my connection with Source is easy and clear.

When I am at the Clothesline it’s like the issues in my life are no longer there, and I receive the most wonderful and amazing insights and inspirations (my latest one involved a NEW crystal essence recipe!).  These moments remind me that All is as it should be …

Sarah is correct ~ in a happy and fulfilled life, domesticity and spirituality are invisibly and inexorably connected.  Sometimes you do have to create order, or step outside the chaos, to reconnect with your sense of contentment.

(By the way, the same ‘wisdom’ can be found in the toilet, too!  ;-) )

  1. jenny Said,

I love to hang out at the far end of my garden, where I see the house from afar, not wanting to return to enter it, for it contains all the jobs and responsibilities I have to assume when I return! Consequently, I adored reading about you hanging out at the clothes line, for those same reasons. I’m loving your interpretation of Simple Abundance – some great reminders are contained in that book. Thank you!

  2. Michelle Said,

Thanks, Jenny, for such wonderful observation. :)

  3. Davine Said,

I miss hanging out in your world – look forward to catching up eventually.
